New to Birding?

Are you new to birding? Here are some resources that can help you get started.

One good place to start is with the National Audubon Society's website, especially the "How to Start Birding" page.

Another good starting place is the American Birding Association's "Welcome New Birders" page.

Birds and Blooms magazine also offers a "Birdwatching Basics" page.

Project Beak (Bird Education and Awareness for Kids) is a good place to start for youngsters. It has a "Birding Basics" page as well.

Slightly more advanced is "Bird ID Skills" and "The 4 Keys to Bird Identification" offered by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

A more comprehensive guide to getting started is "Birdwatching Basics" from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

An important document to familiarize yourself with is the American Birding Association's Code of Birding Ethics
