Birding Sites

Florida is fortunate to have many, many good birding sites. Perhaps the best place to start when looking for birding sites is The Great Florida Birding Trail.

Here is a downloadable spreadsheet, listing numerous places within the villages where you can often find interesting birds.

In addition, these spots are good locations for birding in The Villages:

  • Paradise Lake (in the historic side of The Villages, accessible from several points around the shore)

  •      The lakes at Freedom Pointe (1450 El Camino Real)

  •      Wilkerson Creek Park (Old Camp Road in Sumter Landing, across from Sunny's BarBQ)

  •      Sharon Rose Wiechens Preserve (on Moyer Loop, next to Belle Glade Country Club)

  • Soaring Eagle Softball Complex (Morse Blvd across from Rohan Recreation Center)

  • Chitty Chatty Preserve (4911 Chitty Chatty Run)

  •      Hogeye Sink and Pathway (at Cattail Recreation Center, 5219 Marsh Bend Trail)

  •      Fenney Nature Trail (3210 Fenney Way)
