Bird walk report - Zellwood

Date: Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010

Rained out with only a half of day at Zellwood but still 12 cars of birders were able to log 74 species. Just think what our count could have been if we had another couple of hours. I never bird Zellwood without thinking of all those birds we just drive by. The place is just too big that we can't do it all, but our once a year trip is always memorable with this years being no exception with the sighting of a Yellow-breasted Chat, White-crowned Sparrow, Blue Grosbeak, Fulvous Whistling-Duck and how about that Roseate Spoonbill. We checked off all four of Florida's Wrens and enjoyed the two Barn Owls in the box. We were treated to the first of the season arrivals of Purple Martins so watch the skies for this our first arrivals of Spring. Thanks for all the great sightings, and a big thanks to Harold Weatherman of St. John's Water Management for taking his precious time to take us through.

Do to the rain we were unable to do the Checklist so here's what I know and if I have missed any birds please let me know
