Bird walk report -Sunnyhill Levee Trail

What a great way to start out the new year as we were treated to 54 species, the largest count we have ever had at Sunnyhill.  Don't forget the Otter and the dancing Sandhill Cranes.  The bad news is that the King Rail and Barred Owl were a no show, but there's always tomorrow. 


Birds Seen Today:


Pied-Billed Grebe, Double-Crested Cormorant, Anhinga, Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, Snowy Egret, Little Blue Heron, White Ibis, Black Vulture, Turkey Vulture, N. Harrier, Red-Shouldered Hawk, Red-Tailed Hawk, American Kestrel, Purple Gallinule, Common Moorhen, American Coot, Sandhill Crane, Killdeer, Ring-Billed Gull, Mourning Dove, Red-Bellied Woodpecker, Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker, Downy Woodpecker, N. Flicker, E. Phoebe, White-Eyed Vireo, Blue-Headed Vireo, Blue Jay, American Crow, Fish Crow, Tree Swallow, Carolina Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse, Ruby-Crowned Kinglet, Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher, American Robin, Gray Catbird, N. Mockingbird, Orange-Crowned Warbler, Yellow-Rumped Warbler, Pine Warbler, Palm Warbler, Black-And-White Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, Chipping Sparrow, N. Cardinal, Red-Winged Blackbird, Boat-Tailed Grackle And American Goldfinch.


Birds Heard Today:

Sora, White-Winged Dove, Carolina Wren And House Wren.

Fort Cooper State Park, Friday January 11, meet at the 466 Wal-Mart (NEW) garden ctr. end closest to 466., 7:45 AM. Fort Cooper is near Inverness. Plan on a half day for this venue.
