Bird walk report -Seminole State Forest

A great drive through a natural Florida setting and a center stage showing of our target bird, the threatened Florida Scrub Jay. It never seems like there is enough time when you are in a place like this!


Birds Seen Today:


Eastern Bluebird, Cardinal Catbird, Sandhill Crane, American Crow, Fish Crow, Mourning Dove, Glue-Gray Gnatcatcher, Red-Shouldered Hawk, Red-Tailed Hawk, Kestrel, Little Blue Heron, Florida Scrub Jay, Ruby-Crowned Kinglet, Tree Swallow, Tufted Titmouse, Eastern Towhee, Blue-Headed Vireo, White-Eyed Vireo, Black Vulture, Turkey Vulture, Palm Warbler, Pine Warbler, Prairie Warbler, Yellow-Rumped Warbler, Yellow-Throated Warbler, Downy Woodpecker, Pileated Woodpecker And Red-Bellied Woodpecker



Birds Heard Today:
Carolina Chickadee, Belted Kingfisher, Northern Parula Warbler And Carolina Wren

note: and for those who were there let's not forget the Jail-birds!


Next up:
Thursday March 2 - Zellwood, meet in Belk's parking lot 7:15am. This is one of our favorite outings with lot's of species and sometimes a surprise visitor. If Harold is able to take us to both sides of Zellwood we will have the option of an AM and PM run. Those wishing to stay on for the afternoon please car pool accordingly. To keep down the number of vehicles on this drive please plan to fill all cars at the parking lot.
