Bird walk report - Ocklawaha Prairie (Special Event)

Date: Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006

It's really to bad we only had 4 driver's and 16 people sign up for this special event as Ocklawaha Prairie is a special place and it would be nice to put it on the winter calendar as more birds arrive. St. John's Water Management will only give us a permit for 6 vehicles to enter at a time, but I determined today that any car can drive it with ease as long as we enter through the 100th St. entrance. We can take two trips, an A.M. and a P.M. so 48 people could be on this trip. If this is to be scheduled again in the future we need better participation so please let Steve Norton (chairman: Bird Walk/Special Event Committee) know. You can email him at : stevador75@earthlink.net . Today's folks were treated to 46 species and our first of the season Robins, and those who continued on after the board-walk viewed a beautiful Baltimore Oriole. What a great day at the Prairie!
