Bird walk report -Merritt Island

Date: Thursday, January 14, 2010

Eight cars of dedicated birders had a wonderful day at Merritt with the count of the day reaching 75 species. Many of us headed over the day before in order to experience more of this great place. There's never enough time for it all! Those who stayed until the end experienced the clouds of shore birds (mostly Dunlins) that swirled in three different clouds, in their attempt to flee the Peregrine Falcon that dove and twisted amongst them looking for dinner. Hope you all enjoyed the day and learned a little
