Bird walk report - Gatorland

Date: Wednesday, April 26, 2006

Wow, 95 degrees. I think the eggs would cook if not being protected by the parents. Everyone seemed to enjoy the up close and personal encounter at the rookery. Egg turning, nest protecting, mating behavior and chicks of all sizes, and how about those fancy plumes! The boardwalk into the swamp produced the first American Redstart for over a year. This was the first time many of us had witnessed the mating call of the American Alligator or should I say Alligators!
