Bird walk report - Emeralda Marsh/Wood Duck
Date: Friday, Mar. 19, 2010
A typical cool morning turned into a sunny warm one as 35 birders enjoyed 66 species on Wood Duck Dr. The Northern Parulas have arrived in numbers and on a good birding day there is never enough time. Two cars stayed on to check out the rookery which is just getting started with nesting Anhingas and Great Blue Herons, some of the nests with fuzzy heads popping up. There we were treated to 2 Painted Buntings, one female and one immature but the bright colored male was a no show.
