Bird walk report -Bourlay Historic Nature Park

With a reschedule of this walk following cancellation due to the tornado, we were once again treated to Bourlay's great birds. The bird of the day was the Painted Bunting, a beautiful male that made himself visible to all. WOW what a bird! Total count for the day = 46 species.


Birds Seen Today:


American White Pelican, Double-Crested Cormorant, Anhinga, Great Blue Heron, White Ibis, Glossy Ibis, Black Vulture, Turkey Vulture, Osprey, Bald Eagle, Ring-Billed Gull, Forster's Tern, Mourning Dove, Red-Bellied Woodpecker, Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker, Pileated Woodpecker, E. Phoebe, White-Eyed Vireo, Blue-Headed Vireo, Blue Jay, American Crow, Fish Crow, Tree Swallow, Carolina Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse, Ruby-Crowned Kinglet, Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher, Hermit Thrush, American Robin, Gray Catbird, N. Mockingbird, Yellow-Rumped Warbler, Pine Warbler, Palm Warbler, Black-And White Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, Chipping Sparrow, N. Cardinal, Painted Bunting, Red-Winged Blackbird, Boat-Tailed Grackle and American Goldfinch


Birds Heard Today:

Red-Shouldered Hawk, Downy Woodpecker, Carolina Wren, And E. Towhee

NEXT UP:

Wood Duck Drive at Emeralda Marsh, Friday 2-23, 07 meet in Belk's parking lot 7:30 AM, time aprox. 1/2 day. This is a drive through so plan to fill all the cars to keep the number at a minimum.

Saturday, Feb. 24 at Paradise Rec. Ctr., 9 AM. Speaker is Helen Ogren a Marion County master gardener who will speak on bird banding on the Georgia coast.
