Bird walk report - Blue Springs St Park by Boat

Well we tried to give you a warmer day but not this winter, but it was a good day with lot's of sunshine. I was happy to see the blankets brought out. Manatees in the spring totaled 112 and the bird count was 48, not bad for such a nippy day on the river. A great lunch at "The Fish House" was shared by most. Hope you have all warmed up!

Birds Seen Today:

Wild Turkey, Double-Crested Cormorant, Anhinga, American Bittern, Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, Snowy Egret, Little Blue Heron, Tricolored Heron, Cattle Egret, Green Heron, Black-Crowned Night Heron, Yellow-Crowned Night Heron, White Ibis, Glossy Ibis, Wood Stork, Black Vulture, Turkey Vulture, Osprey, Bald Eagle, Red-Shouldered Hawk, Red-Tailed Hawk, American Kestrel, Purple Gallinule, Common Moorhen, American Coot, Limpkin, Sandhill Crane, Eurasian Collared Dove, Mourning Dove, Belted Kingfisher, Red-Bellied Woodpecker, Northern Flicker, Pileated Woodpecker, Eastern Phoebe, Blue Jay, American Crow, Eastern Bluebird, American Robin, Gray Catbird, Northern Mockingbird, Cedar Waxwing, Northern Cardinal And Boat-Tailed Grackle

Birds Heard Today:

Carolina Wren, Ruby-Crowned Kinglet, Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher And Eastern Towhee

Next Up:

Tomorrow: Friday Feb. 19th., new Withlacoochee Bay Trail (at the Gulf), meet at the Wal-Mart parking lot (garden end) on 466 at 7 a.m. Bring snacks or a lunch. Some may want to stop for lunch at Stumpknockers in Inverness on the way back. Target birds are sea ducks, wintering sparrows, terns and shorebirds.
